Telford and Wrekin Green Party Meeting held on Zoom on Wed. 1 June 2022
Present : Pat McCarthy, Brett Corden, Marion Versluijs, Sophia Vaughan-Hodgkinson, Nick Gatward, Lynda Simpson, Bev McCarthy ( note taker)
Agenda item 1) Minutes approved and all members introduced themselves.
Agenda item 2)GP Practices
Pat shared wording for a petition and meeting agreed on a few changes. Petition to be used in outreach. Brett will also share petition via Action Network
Discussion around inadequacies of current service provision. Patients going to A&E because unable to get GP appointment so A&Es overloaded and struggling
Agenda item 3) Right wing groups visits to Telford
Pat has had a meeting with Hope not Hate organisation with the aim of bringing the Telford community together to respond jointly to recent attention from Tommy Robinson et al. . Pat will be talking to faith groups to further this aim.

Agenda item 4) Granville landfill site application
At time of meeting this had gone to planning committee but the outcome was not known. As the application would be going against the Council’s Green strategy it was felt that it would be unlikely to be passed.
Agenda item 5) Flooding in the Gorge
Lee was not at the meeting to report on any progress that had been made on arranging a community meeting.
There is a consultation on Storm overflow discharge reduction plan live on Council website till 17 June
Agenda item 6) Solar farm application
Discussion around pros and cons. There are no reasonable objections. CPRE objected on basis of needing land for agricultural purposes. But this is low grade land
Question raised about whether we should we have a campaign looking into issues of putting solar panels on roofs on industrial estates etc
Date of next meeting 7.30pm 29 June on Zoom and all subsequent meetings to be held on the 4th Wednesday of every month.
