Press release for urgent attention
From Telford and Wrekin Green Party Re:Observer article 31/07/2022 https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jul/31/tory-mp-mark-pritchard-linden-energy-climate-fossil-fuel-firm?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other
Green Party Coordinator Pat McCarthy said:
“The people are seeing at first hand the consequences of climate inaction, in the form of soaring fuel bills and the extreme heat of two weeks ago and emerging drought but at the same time we have Mark Pritchard, The Wrekin’s MP taking a job with a company that has taken an active role in creating this crisis.
The £325 per hour job working as a consultant to Linden Energy Holdings an American Fossil Fuel company, is to promote the use of fuels that will destroy our children’s future and harm our own.
The Conservative Party’s links to fossil fuel companies and their lobbyists are a major block in reducing carbon outputs, indeed they have successfully moved this government to expand fossil fuel extraction in the face of all climate scientists’ advice on the matter.
The interest of fossil fuel companies should have no place at the heart of our democracy and we urge the government to force Mr Pritchard to choose between either his new job in the industry, or his position as an MP”
The local Green Party invites anyone else who feels strongly about this to a picket outside Mark Pritchard’s office in Church Street, Wellington on Thursday 4th August 11.30am where we will present him with our request to concentrate on constituents’ interests rather than his lucrative fossil fuel interests.
