Let’s Play, Telford and The Wrekin!

Help Us Make Telford and The Wrekin’s Playgrounds Accessible for Every Child

By Mark Webster, Telford and Wrekin Green Party’s Disability Officer

The Telford and Wrekin Green Party are committed to creating inclusive playparks in Telford and The Wrekin where every child, including those with disabilities, can enjoy outdoor play. From March to August, we will survey parks across the borough using accessibility standards from the disability charity SCOPE. Our goal is to celebrate the progress made, highlight what still needs work, and push for fully inclusive spaces.

When we conducted our survey last year, not a single park was fully accessible – not even Telford Town Park. But thanks to recent council investment, improvements are underway. Now we need your help to track that progress and continue to hold the Council to account on improving accessibility for all.

Getting involved is quick, easy, and rewarding. Just visit a park, fill out a simple checklist, add your comments, and take a few photos. Anyone can take part – parents, carers, young people, or anyone who cares about equal access.

We will publish the results of the survey at the end of September to show how far we’ve come and what still needs to be done.

So grab the kids, head outside, and help build a future where every child can play.
